Step 9 – “Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.”
Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions – Page 83
‘Many a razor-edged question can arise in other departments of life where this same principle is involved. Suppose, for instance, that we have drunk up a good chunk of our firms’ money, whether by “borrowing” or on a heavily padded expense account. Suppose that this may continue to go on undetected if we say nothing. Do we instantly confess our irregularities to the firm, in the practical certainty that we will be fired and become unemployable? Are we going to be so rigidly righteous about making amends that we don’t care what happens to the family and home? Or do we first consult those who are to be gravely affected? Do we lay the matter before our sponsor or spiritual adviser, earnestly asking God’s help and help and guidance – meanwhile resolving to do the right thing when it becomes clear. Cost what it may? Of course. There is no pat answer that can fit all dilemmas. But all of them do require a complete willingness to make amends as fast and as far as may be possible in a given set of conditions.

A Note from Central Office
Autumn Greetings!
These long days of light seem to symbolize our recovery. After living in the darkness of alcoholism, we have arrived now, in the sunlight of the spirit, to carry on with our lives in ways in which we can be useful We are ardently looking for a new home for our office. The building we have been in for more than 30 years is being renovated into an apartment building, with the construction beginning in January. We have been given notice recently that construction will begin at 1015 Cass in January, so we have 3 months and “change” to find a suitable location for our Central Office. We have been here for over 30 years, and it has served us extremely well. We are looking for office space that is about 400 square feet, room for two desks, a small sitting area, and bookshelves. I looked at 4 or 5 spaces last week, but none were suitable. If you know of any rental agencies or real estate folks who might be able to help us find AA a new long-term home, please call us at the office, at 373-3713. We are looking at a budget of approximately $1000.00 per month.
Ground floor preferred, but not necessary. I need help with this… If you know of anyone who is in the field of commercial real estate, see if you can connect them with us.
We have also been planning our Annual Dog Show. We have recently changed the date of this event to October 21st. A day in the park with a meeting, lunch, and a fun show for the pups! It is LOTS of fun!
Let us know at the office if you would like to be a part of the planning of this fun event!
Be well,
Jana
