MBAIAA Newsletter – December 2024

Step 12 – “Having had a spiritual awakening as a result of these steps, we tried to carry to carry this message to alcoholics, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.”

“The joy of living is the theme of A.A.’s Twelfth Step and action is the key word. Here we turn outward toward our fellow alcoholics who are still in distress. Here we experience the kind of giving that asks for no rewards. Here we begin to practice all Twelve Steps of the program in our daily lives so that we and those about us may find emotional sobriety. When the Twelfth Step is seen in its full implication, it is really talking about the kind of love that has no price tag on it.”

What’s Happening Locally

Monthly Intergroup Birthday Meeting – Saturday, December 28th @ 7:00PM

This year the Birthday Meeting will be held in conjunction with our Annual Holiday Banquet. We will celebrate the upcoming New Year with a potluck celebration full of treats, good spirits, and well wishes for the New Year. Please refer to the attached flyer for details & suggestions on what to bring.  Come join in all of the festivities!  There will be lots of coins given out to celebrate the many anniversaries this time of year!  Word is that there may even be a visit by Santa ;).

Dinner will be served around 5:15.  After dinner we’ll kick-off our ever-popular Birthday Meeting.  This month’s host group will be the Steering Committee.  Our speaker will be Tony F.  Tony is celebrating many years of sobriety with us (43 I think) and will be sharing his experience, strength, and hope with us.

Time: Saturday, December 28th – 7:00PM
Place:  Monterey High School Cafeteria – 101 Herrmann Dr. Monterey CA 93940

Please come and support the fellowship!  We will have cake & coffee and there will be much to celebrate – TOGETHER!  The monthly birthday meeting is held on the last Saturday of each month (except for December when the meeting is held along with a holiday banquet ).  The first part of the meeting includes a presentation of birthday medallions for those celebrating annual A.A. anniversaries – all alcoholics are invited to participate.  Birthdays are followed by an A.A. speaker who shares for 40 to 45 minutes and the meeting ends about 8:30pm.  Coffee is typically ready no later than 6:30pm.  Arrive early for good parking, fellowship, and a great seat!

A Note From Central Office

Warm Winter Greetings 🙂

Because the hustle & bustle of the holidays can be so frantic, I would like to pause and take just a moment to say farewell.  I am handing over the reins of this busy ship to a new person who will take over soon.  It has been an honor to help some people find their way and others to continue to find their way into the rooms, and the arms, of Alcoholics Anonymous.

During this year we have found a lovely new home at 546 Hartnell St. Suite E in Monterey.  The space feels like home!  Come by and see our digs – they’re delightful :).

Thank you all for allowing me to be of service.  I would encourage us all to do the same.

Be Well,

Jana

Look after and support each other and remember that we can’t stay sober alone. Share with others what was so freely given to you.
